WDCC Links with the community

In the year of the golden jubilee, WDCC were involved in providing images for the Grappenhall and Thelwall village trail. WDCC have now been meeting in this part of Warrington for over 20 years and were pleased to be part of this initiative.

Noticeboards have now been erected in a number of locations including near the Parr Arms, Grappenhall and the Pickering Arms Thelwall. A sample is shown below with images provided by WDCC members including Alan Dean, club chairman.

Warrington District Camera Club has had links and been involved in activities with external groups in the area since around 1995.

Some of the key linkups, but certainly not all from the last few years are listed below :-

1997/98 for Warrington Volunteer Bureau: Shopmobility, Citizen's Advice Bureau, Dysphasic Support, Warrington Toy Library, Methodist Coffee House, Adult Basic Skills, Riding for the Disabled, Arthritis Care. The club has also recorded the Volunteer Bureau's annual presentation of awards ceremony for the past 3 years.
1999 for Age Concern: B&Q Training Sessions, basic skills for the elderly.
2001 and 2003, Leap Confronting Conflict: Seminar/workshop at Warrington Peace Centre.
2001 Lever Faberge National Learning Day.
2003 Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council: Pictures for the display boards for the Queens Golden Jubilee
Town Trail and photo's of the opening of the trail.
2004 Warrington Cancer Support Group: recording various planned events. Lymm Rovers Junior Football Club: at their fundraising evening.
Annually since 1995 Warrington District Camera Club have recorded Disability Awareness Day: covering the events over the whole day as well as supporting shots beforehand eg marquees being erected and site preparation.
This work has been recognised by the organisers of DAD and we were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation of Efforts in 2002.

The Club has been a registered member of the Warrington Council for Voluntary Service since 2000.
