YGG (Young Gifted and Green) Unsigned 2003 kicks off again
February Thursday the 13th

This legendary competition is where Oasis started. For one of the 18 bands listed below, fame could be only 2 gigs at The Palace nightclub in Levenshulme away!

In the battle of the bands this year, the shortlist of mainly New Manchester Bands is:

The Haze - No strangers to the stage at the palace
Echofreddy - Punk from Stockport
Psycotic Tree Ambush - Rock 4 piece
Giant Planets - More Punk, this time from Chorlton.
Gridlock - Rock meets rap with this great band from Romiley
Caleb Storkey - Veteran of the 2002 InTheCity campaign, Acoustic Guitars meet Wolfy Smith, lookout for the 'Freedom Bus'
Daylight Rule - Ex Shallowater lads & a new female vocalist. Recent gigs include support to Specter (ex Smiths)
Idiom - Rock n Roll from Manchester
Saucerman - Funk Groves from this Manc / Cockney crossover. Supports include Goldblade, The Kills, Foil, Haven, Brassy & Tom Hingley
52 Teenagers - Punk 4 piece
Meanwhile in Tinseltown - Another Romily band

Young,Gifted and Green is part of the Manchester Irish Festival. Each year close to St Patrick's Day this competition promotes bands with an Irish connection. The most famous band launched by the YGG was Oasis. Other events are staged at the Palace throughout the year.
