Ransome are: Ste - BASS Chris - LEAD Sacha - RHYTHM Jon - DRUMS When each band member describes the quality of its own songs as quite simply, 'great', you could be forgiven for thinking that this is a band that exudes 'self-proclaimed bravado'. However, in this case, the band members of Ransome are 'spot on' in their statement. Formed in Warrington, England in 2001, the guitar band 'Ransome' currently comprises of vocalist / lead guitar player Chris Mason, vocalist / rhythm guitar player Sacha Rangasamy, bassist Stephen Bold and Drummer Jon Knight. Initially it all started in 1998 when Chris and Sacha were both studying at University. Both had similar tastes in music and both genuinely wanted to perform on the 'live stage'. They began writing songs together both before, during and after University lectures and soon made a pact that they would form a band once their studies were over. Stephen Bold, with his slick, urbane style of bass guitar playing became an important piece of the jigsaw puzzle in February 2001. The Ransome line-up was finally completed in April 2002 when former Heathrow Browns drummer Jon Knight joined the band. Ransome made their gigging debut in a low-key affair on November 26th, 2001 at the Oak Tree, Newton-le-Willows, Warrington but this was only the beginning of their meteoric rise to potential prominence. In the space of two months of virtual non-stop gigging the band have added the highly creditable 'Cavern Club', Liverpool, the home of the Beatles and 'The Roadhouse', Manchester, to their already impressive curriculum vitae. Up and coming gigs at the Band on the Wall and Night & Day, both located in Manchester and return dates at the Cavern Club and The Roadhouse furthermore highlight Ransome's potential for 2002. In February 2002, Ransome made their recording debut with the self-released CD 'Over Ambitious' a name first conceived when the studio engineer suggested that the band was attempting a recording session that was deemed 'over ambitious' or plain 'impossible' or even 'stupid'. The definitive aspect here is the inner motivation of Ransome to succeed where other bands will not. As far as Ransome are concerned nothing is impossible and everything is possible. The 'Over Ambitious' CD is packed with original, uplifting, and melodic songs that ultimately define Ransome's sound as a band and that is 'unique'. Ransome have this unique ability to keep an audience listening because quite simply, you don't know what's coming up next and that is why Ransome are so exciting both in personality and as a live act. The fact that all band members are so at home with a guitar in their hands suggests that Music is their destiny. Rest assured Ransome are destined for domination. Wait and see, be prepared, you can't escape. |
