Warrington Winter Night Shelter Project
A community project undertaken in the Winter of 1995. The culmination was an exhibition held in Warrington. |
(14) | Sue runs the Warrington YMCA. She is paid from 10am to 10pm, but often adds another 3-4 hours to that each day. Commanding respect, she knits the shoestring night shelter together, finding silver linings in grey clouds. Without her the shelter would not exist. She hopes next year the local borough council will fund a permanent night shelter. Even if they do, she will most likely put as much effort.
| Jack is a requent night shelter visitor. He resists finding anywhere permanent and has seen similar places in towns all over the North West. When his 'Roll your own' cigarette is finished he will retire to bed. Lights out 11.30pm
Doors open again at 8am. Then its out again to start a day like any other.
