DIP are based around the Derby area and were formed in the spring of '98, when brothers, Scott (drums 'n' vox) & Daz Lawson (guitar 'n' vox) teamed up with beverage supping buddy Craig Reynolds (guitar 'n' vox), with the aim to create somthing fresh, distingtive & imaginative, (drawing on influences from the like of Supergrass, Curtis Mayfield, The Beatles, S Club 7, Black Sabath, Jellyfish, Bowie, The Drifters, The Clash, Faith No More, Albert King, T Rex and Blur etc etc Blah Blah...) maintaining the lads punkish attitude & twat-ish sense of humour, all smothered in a cheapo plastic pop coating, although, at the start it was just something to keep them (R)ockupied, off the blagg and out of mischief.

By the summertime and after advertising for a bass player, Dean, one of Craigs old school mates, and Tony Slattery / Elvis / Evel Kinevel look'a'like joined the band, and within a month or so (after exorcising 14 odd songs from tormented minds) they were ready to take it to the masses "BUDDA BING".

By the summer of '99 after loads of pub gigs, the band began to attract interest and recognition while gaining more confidence and experience and we're offered a couple of festival gigs, which seemed to lift interest and enthusiasm for the band a stage further. By October after public demand they decided to book into "The Foundry" recording studios based at Chesterfield, to record the highly acclaimed 7 track CD EP "cheapo plastic prize" which was a very enjoyable experience for most of the band, Daz has no qualms about openly confessing to being scared of telephones but Dean was unable to admit to his new found phobia for recording studios and shortly afterwards quit the band a quivering wreck never to be seen again.
