A tribute to bands with missing spaces in their names... New Rock from Headstorm and two bands for our trash metal bretheren. No-one looked dissapointed to me, apart from soundman Chris wrestling with one too many drumkits. Ho Hum.... .

The party started with 'Oh God Yeah' , 'Slow Mellon' and 'Spider Finger Legs'. A few followers were here to see Headstorm with their early 90's influenced rock. Some shades of Pearl Jam et al seemed to be hidden in the teenage angst somewhere. Vocals seemed stretched at times as 'Big Bad Boy' , 'Consequence' and 'Old New Song' came through. But full marks to the lads on guitar and bass, nice consistant driving rhythm. 'Dolphin Song', 'Orestes' and 'Days off Work' finished off the set. A goodbye + pointer to a website might have been a good idea, but a good opener for the real heavy bands yet to follow... InPainDie

After clogging up the stage with excess drumkits we were looking for something special. Not that I would argue with the InPainDie drummer. 'Mr' drummer to you! 'Ten Years of Greif' and 'Slave New World' kicked us right into hardcore rock attitude. The bass players dreads were swinging and the crowd were getting into it. 'I leave to you' and Doomsayer gave us some great guitaer licks. Cut short by the drum delays, 'Not my Flesh' was about as far as we could get before the final whistle. Only 20 minutes to go before the mosh pit fills again...

InPainDie are Jon Matthews (drums), Matty Mahoney (vocals) + Ant Hurlock on bass. The early template for In Pain Die emerged in Buckley North Wales in June 2000 with Gary Morris on guitars and Jess Skinner on keyboards. IPD have knocked out some distinctive Northern Metal recently and the new slimmed down band of 3 is going great guns. Recent gigs have included the Iron Door on the Wirral and Satan's Hollow in Manchester.

Full on agression right through the set like a knife through butter. Another 10/10 performance from one of Stoke-On-trent's best hard core metal bands.
