DNR

Greenocks answer to Green Day didn't dissapoint. Dave, Daniel and drummer Puggs exploded on to the stage to a full Rec, no air con and heating turned up to 'toast'. No shortage of on lookers at the stage to receive DNR's initial punk salvo. Julie, Deal Lock and Rut were the strongest tracks for me, a welcome trip from the lads across the border. CD's were on sale, worth picking up if you managed to.

Fresh out of school, Daniel and Dave were members of Ego Trip, the current incarnation of DNR has been around since Feb 2001. An appearance at Jamfest was the real start of DNR's gigging career. An initial appearance at the Glasgow Cathouse for Twisted Ape got the band several more gigs at the Cathouse. More gigs at Strawberry Fields + the 13th Note club followed. Dundee and the Scots regions were next. Nearly a four piece when Jim Lee of The Aforementioned joined briefly, it was the stripped down trio we saw tonight. Tonight we catch them on their mini-UK tour.

The Drive

Second up, The Drive, a band with mostly original material and a few well chosen covers. The opener 'Circle of Lies' was quickly followed by the Motorhead classic 'Ace of Spades'. An easy gig with so many fans and supporters in the crowd, Sad-ism (or Sadism if you like!) Epic and the bands theme track The Drive gave us the meat in the set sandwich. Ozzys Crazy Train (so whats the pre-occupation with 1980's rock??) brought us to the final track, Maze of Wires. A promising set overall, it would be interesting to see new material replacing the covers.

Think Fast Charlie

Another cracking set from Thinkfast Charlie kicking off with 'The Round That Killed You' and 'Eject and Fall'. Moving around the stage, the atmosphere was electric as TFC kicked into Red Sky at Dawn and Many Stories. The set seem to last for ages, far longer than the duration of 'Long Dead Shadows', The Hero and Picking Up the pieces. The crowd were begging for more but time was tight.

Production G

Mongletons Production G finished this great night at the Rec. Lots of the usual lively stage show and nearly some dancers to join ProdG for some of their final tracks, but it was not to be.
