Whats this? A queue to get in The 'Rec? It must be getting near Xmas or was it the bands?
Worth the wait though as Wrexham lads Katch22 with their definitive pop sound kicked off the night. Tidy (now with 2 new members) made a welcome return, lifting the set with the Darkness Single. Finally Five Long Days, the newest incarnation of Crewe's Atomic Finger. All in all, a good nights entertainment!

Katch 22

A great opening set from Wrexham band 'Katch 22'. Mostly fine original material with a few well choosen covers from Blink and The Stereophonics. Kicking off with the excellent set starter 'End of The Day' and 'Follow You Follow Me' within 6 minutes the die was cast. The original material kept coming. Castaway and Dragons Presence, Picture of You and Where did you Go all cemented Katch 22's charismatic aura with the lady punters in the mosh pit, then on came some covers for the rest of the room. Blink's All The Small things (a common cover) came first, followed by (The Stereophonics) Bartender. More original stuff followed, Andrea , I Dont Care and Canadian concluding a great set. Someone let this lot out of Wales more often!

Tidy

Quite a while in reforming, with the two new members (including the new drummer) reputedly practising for 6 months prior to this gig. It didn't show, apart from the messing about with a bass mid-set, everyone looked to gel. The lead singer needs to check his balance though. Not good to fall over every gig!. The set included Play my game, Anno 1366, Last year In The Rain, Atmospheric Experience, About You, The Things You Do, Slightly Mad and Chick Magnet. The Darkness tribute went down well as you'd expect!

Five Long Days

Not strangers to The 'rec in their previous Crewe based incarnation 'Atomic Finger', this cracking band are settling in to their new material. The excellent 'Nothing Personal' opened the set and set the standard for the driving guitar and energetic style that would run through the set like letters in a stick of rock. One Too many, Can You Feel It, Wax Lyrical, Circles and Cycles prefixed the cracking Vodka Chaser. The not so mellow 'Static', Joined In Sound and Help Yourself completed the set.

More Rock.
