Forthcoming gigs at the Rec' :-
Dec 5th/12th/19th/27th

What a showcase! Something for everyone. Stokes death metal soldiers Headpress with the best drummer I have seen all year, Funk Fuelled tunes from Manchester (Didsbury) based Brothers with different Mothers. Finally, Londons answer to Rage Against The machine Djevara. The Gladstone was packed, but the question of the night was....
What dickhead shut the bar at 10.15 then??

HeadPress

Probably one of the best gigs of the year so far, not one that you wanted to miss even a second of! Kicking off, Head Press from Stoke. Truly the axemen were here. Pounded along by the best drummer I have seen all year, the mosh pit was full. Not surprising there was a queue at the door to get in and Darren lead singer from Fall.Out seemed to have imported his posse of followers for the gig. They had a merchandising stand in the corner, the sign of professionals. See these lads agaion - and soon!

Headpress are signed up for Godless 3 'The Ultimate Underground Rock & Metal Festival', Sat 13th March '04 @ The Talbot Hotel, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs. Billed so far are Long Time Dead, Fourwaykill Pro-jekt, Headpress, Mendeed,Headhunglow, Enemo,Skincheese, Burnt,Razorwire, Nothus,Smalltown Cynics,Hebephrenic, This Human Condition,No Signal Input, Fuck Hate Propaganda, MeyerCurve,Black Tooth Grin + Pseudo Japanese. Checkout Dan Peach's (Psychophonic records) Godless website for more info.

Brothers with Different Mothers

A contrast to Headpress, BWDM were the perfect sandwich filling. Could Uber Funk be the next Rock and Roll? Well whatever it was, it was pretty enjoyable. Different folk up on the dance floor. The brothers were confident and gifted, kicking off with Super Magick Garden and Easy Rolling. Consistantantly catchy tracks like Todays the day and Same Way Round, the Autumn Leaves, Glass of Fresh Air followed. Rocktopussy and Sirens of the city preceeded the Jimi Hendrix cover Stone Free. The Brothers 7 track CD-EP was selling well. A charismatic band that I would like to see in a venue like The Band on the Wall.

Djevara

Djevara

Up from deepest London, 6 hours in the Afford Rent a van, totally worth it! Even though the bar was prematurely shut early, it didn't dent anyones enthusiasm in the mosh pit. Wrong though it is, Djevara's pigeon hole is Rage Against The Machine, but RATM never had a black dreadlocked lead and Djevara's British credentials. A tub-thumping fusion of Punk, Metal, Fusion and Rock sounds. Look out for Djevara's 'God Is White' CD due Jan 2004, already getting some quality radio airplay. Djevara are Erd, Jeff, Bass + Geoff. Check them out on the web at www.djevara.co.uk
