Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, is undeniably one of the greenest and architecturally most beautiful cities in Northern Europe. A mecca for tourists with over two million each year coming to visit the heritage of the Royal Mile, the looming 1000 year old castle perched up above the city's streets upon a craggy, steep cliff, its steep city streets, and a city rich in social, cultural, learning and sporting facilities.

Often called the 'Athens of the North' it sits south of the blue waters of the Firth of Forth, a gateway to the coastline, hills and open country of the Scottish Highlands and border country so often contested with its neighbour to the south. The city boasts lots of beautiful green spaces from Holyrood Park across to Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags

Each year the city plays host to internationally renowned events such as the Edinburgh International Arts, Fringe, Film, TV and Science Festivals. August is the pinnacle of activity in the city when comedians, bagpipe buskers and theatre groups fill the narrow streets and alleyways of the city, (or 'closes' as we call them here). The crowds gorge themselves on shortbread and if the weather turns inclement, a wee dram of the national liquor, "The water of life". Then December brings Christmas and the ritual of Hogmanay

As you walk the historic streets of the city you will encounter the scenes and characters of Lynn Hanleys art. Morningside ladies walking scottie dogs, tartan clad pipers, festival unicyclists, joggers, children enjoying themselves at the fair in Princes St gardens, Cressers brush shop near the Grassmarket and many more. Residents of the city will recognise less well known areas, such as Bruntsfield and Queensferry which hold a particular charm.
